Hi, thanks for the nice video introduction! I have 2 questions related to the workload of the course.

1. You mention full time in Q1 is required. Do you mean that the course will occupy 5 full days per week?

2. Is the schedule flexible enough for us to enrol another course in Q1 at the same time?

Thank you!

Hello Zixian,

Thank you for your questions

1. firstly the project is officially worth 15 EC, which is equivalent to a full course load. This means that a JIP project does require teams to work 8 hours a day, 5 days a week on their JIP project together.

2. Students have been able to also complete a course alongside JIP, however, this should clearly be communicated with your team at the start of JIP. For example, if you would have to attend a lecture every Monday morning, arrange with your team how you will not be present at that time, however, will contribute to the JIP project at an alternative time.

I am incredibly enthusiastic and eager to join. After reading the website I had 4 questions. What should I expect in terms of traveling abroad in case of the cases with international contexts? Does the programme have any fies or other additional costs? When, and in what form should I deliver approval from my master coordinator? When will we be able to ask the companies questions and are there any other events planned to ask for information? Thank you in advance, Carolijn

Hello Carolijn,

Glad to see your enthusiasm!

  1. We will not be travelling abroad for this JIP. The cases that originally would be abroad are going to be in the Netherlands instead due to the current circumstances

  2. there are no fees or additional costs. If you are required to travel to the company in a different city, your travel costs will be compensated

  3. It has just been decided that the master coordinator approval will not be needed this year

  4. the company pitches should be online on the 8th of May. questions can be asked from that point onward and will be answered by may 14th

hope this answers your questions, if you have any additional questions, do not hesitate to ask.

Good afternoon,

For the application procedure, how many favourite cases do we have to mention? In the slides is written "Top 6 interested cases" but the video says "Top 3 favourite cases".

Also, do we need to write two different motivation letters? What I understood is we need one to express our interest in joining JIP and other one for showing our motivation in our favourite cases.

Thank you in advance,

Irene

Hi Irene,

I understand the confusion! To clarify:

  1. You will provide us with your top 6 cases in an application form, but you only have to include a motivation for your top 3 in the motivation letter.

  2. You can write only one motivation letter. This one should include both aspects you mentioned, so your motivation for JIP in general and the motivation for your top 3 cases.

Hope this helps :)

Hi thanks for the informative video introduction.

I was wondering where we can find which case is applicable for which study background. I can imagine that if you do a masters in Architecture not every technical case is applicable. Is there a filter function or something like that for the cases?

Hi Bernice,

Thank you for your question.

The cases are suitable for all students. The idea behind JIP is that interdisciplinary team work can foster creativity. Creating teams with students from different faculties, for a project that may be outside your field of study, can lead to out-of-the-box thinking and innovative results. Hence, you can apply to any case you like as your top 6.

Of course we do consider that some teams may need at least one students with particular expertise, however, we do aim to keep the teams as diverse as possible.

Hope this clarifies the JIP structure :)!

I was wondering if we should use the company pitches page on this website or if we should use the forums on brightspace if we want to ask case-specific cases?
