‘Intellectual Disability Alert’ (IDA): a tool to improve medical care for adults with intellectual disabilities

Worldwide, 200 million people have an intellectual disability (ID). Although ID can be apparent in some cases, it can also easily be missed in cases of mild impairment or relatively strong verbal skills. Misdiagnosis may cause chronic stress and stress-related health issues (SRHI) in patients. Failure to recognize ID leads to unnecessary healthcare costs, suboptimal quality of life and medical complications. In this case, you will work on an identification system to support and improve well-being and patient care.

The most obvious cardiac information is lacking

With cheap, high-quality sensor technology your team will discriminate cardiac from non-cardiac causes. We aim to provide better, cheaper tools for cardiovascular assessments. Can your team implement wristband technology, photoplethysmography, lidar, wearable ultrasound sensors/microphones, or other chosen combination of sensor technology to provide cheap, high-quality options to measure the volume of fluids, flows of venous and arterial blood and air in the thorax?
