Phosphoenix is developing a visual bci for blind people. Your challenge will be to improve the usefulness of the device and make a working prototype simulation. Is infrared or a 360 camera really useful? Can a time-of-flight camera detect approaching objects? Would AI be useful for the user?

Global climate risk mitigation strategy

The world of risk assessment and risk mitigation is one riddled with complexity and uncertainty. When identified risks are deemed too big, Our Uptime User will want to lower these risks. One way is to take structural measures that lower the vulnerability of an asset. But, the Uptime user is most likely not an engineer with specialist knowledge and would not know what is possible and what is not. Our RHDHV consultants do know, but using their help is not scalable. So, the challenge is to describe how to automate the process of linking possible risk mitigation measures to climate-induced hazards for client assets.

Turning information into knowledge

Thousands of (scientific) articles are written each year that are relevant for the Dutch National Police (NP), causing information overload when making decisions or writing policies. The objective of this internship is to develop a method for all such articles to proactively be crawled, structured, and presented at the right time and place - thus turning information into knowledge. The Incredible Machine (link van maken) is an example of data science used by the NP.
